Situated an hour from Bozeman and near Yellowstone National Park in the forested foothills of Montana’s Big Sky, One&Only’s first alpine resort and branded residential community in the United States was launched in 2025.

One&Only is a global hospitality brand known for its one‑of‑a‑kind resorts and private homes across destinations from Greece to Mauritius.

Developed by Kerzner International in partnership with Lone Mountain Land, the project combines private homes with resort amenities and hospitality services.

Spanning 240 acres, the development is bordered by more than 17,000 acres of permanently protected land. The project includes 62 private homes, six resort buildings with 73 guest rooms and suites, 19 guest cabins, and eight private estates.

The private homes at One&Only Moonlight Basin epitomise contemporary mountain living. Designed by Seattle‑based architecture practice Olson Kundig, the residences are deliberately light on the land, blending into the surrounding wilderness.

Ranging from four to six bedrooms, each home is conceived to connect seamlessly with nature, featuring fireplaces, outdoor hot tubs, and panoramic views of snow‑capped peaks.

The four‑bedroom homes offer 3,670ft2 of space for up to eight residents. The five‑bedroom homes are arranged over two floors, while the signature five‑bedroom residences extend across three levels with three ensuite bedrooms, a queen room, a bunk room, and larger living spaces.

Architecture framing nature

Olson Kundig’s design for the resort and residences reflects a philosophy of minimal disturbance to the site. Modular construction methods reduce environmental impact, while the use of local materials ensures the architecture tells the story of its place.

The resort itself comprises lodges, cabins, and a main ski lodge, each positioned to reveal the untouched beauty of Moonlight Basin.

The low‑rise development is intentionally hidden among the trees, allowing nature to take centre stage.

A resort anchored in wilderness

One&Only Moonlight Basin offers more than just private homes. Anchored by two private lakes, the property provides direct access to Big Sky’s outdoor pursuits, from skiing and snowshoeing in winter to hiking, fly fishing, and equestrian trails in summer.

Homeowners enjoy privileges that extend beyond their doorstep. Six restaurants and bars, including a Japanese steakhouse by Michelin‑starred chef Akira Back, offer diverse dining experiences.

The 17,000‑square‑foot spa provides treatments, oxygen therapy, and restorative soaks, while the KidsOnly club and private observatory ensure experiences for all ages.

As Mark Kirby, President of One&Only, noted at the opening, the resort celebrates wild beauty, bold design, and authentic connection, honouring the heart and soul of Montana all year round. For residents, the homes at Moonlight Basin are gateways to a lifestyle rooted in nature, framed by architecture, and enriched by the privileges of belonging to the One&Only world.
