Short golf, big impact: Wee Nip arrives at Grand Geneva Resort in Wisconsin

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, a 1,300-acre AAA Four-Diamond all-seasons resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, is set to open a new 11-hole short golf course, Wee Nip, to the public on 19 May 2026.

Managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, the resort adds this course as part of its broader golf portfolio, providing a quicker and more social way to experience the game.

Wee Nip was created by award-winning Dusenberry Design, with a focus on creativity, challenge, and enjoyment. Holes average approximately 90 yards, allowing rounds to be completed in around 90 minutes. The course accommodates beginners looking to try golf for the first time as well as experienced players seeking a lighter, playful alternative to traditional rounds.

The course emphasises strategic shot-making, including low skimming shots under the wind, and features a physical scorecard for players who wish to track progress. Full group buyouts are also possible, making it suitable for both private gatherings and larger social groups.

The Wee Nip experience extends beyond play through its “12th hole” gathering area. This space is designed to facilitate social interaction, featuring casual seating, fire pits, lawn games, and refreshments. It encourages golfers to conclude their rounds in a communal setting while enjoying the surrounding landscape.

Integration with existing resort golf facilities

Wee Nip complements Grand Geneva’s existing golf offerings, which include two championship 18-hole courses: Brute, designed by Robert Bruce Harris, and Highlands, created by Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus with later refinements by Bob Cupp.

Together, the three courses offer a spectrum of golfing experiences, from competitive championship play to shorter, recreational rounds, supporting the resort’s overall guest engagement and recreational portfolio.

Community engagement and local impact

Revenue from rounds on Wee Nip’s opening day will be donated to the United Way of Walworth County. The course provides both a recreational and social setting while contributing to the local community through charitable engagement.
