VTS announces AI lease abstraction tool for asset managers

Commercial leases contain the dates, financial terms and obligations that shape the management of a property. Finding that information can mean reading a lengthy document or consulting an abstract stored in a separate system. VTS, an AI-driven intelligence platform, has announced a tool that will bring both processes into its property software.

Named Asset Intelligence, the AI-assisted lease abstraction tool is meant for asset management teams.

The product extracts information from lease documents and converts it into structured data. Users can then question the documents in conversational language and obtain answers based on the lease information.

VTS said the data could be used for renewals, compliance and asset management decisions. Asset Intelligence integrates with the company’s existing platform, connecting lease abstraction with the software used by its clients for leasing and asset management.

AI extraction followed by expert verification

The process starts with an AI-generated baseline abstraction. Lease administration specialists then check the extracted information.

Asset Chat allows users to ask questions about leases and locate the relevant passages in the source documents. A property team could, for example, search for a subletting clause without reading the full lease.

Queries can also cover an entire portfolio. VTS said an asset manager could calculate total exposure to a particular parent company across different properties. Teams could also standardise the way lease terms are recorded and check that obligations have not been overlooked.

Entity mapping connects tenant records

A tenant can appear under different names in leases, accounting software and property records. Asset Intelligence uses entity mapping to match and normalise those records.

In a February 2026 report, VTS said the model drew on 100 million external sources and data covering 13 billion sq ft of leases. The company said the information could be used to recognise relationships between tenants and their parent organisations.

Asset Intelligence can also reconcile data with enterprise resource planning systems. This is designed to keep lease information consistent between VTS and the financial or administrative software used by property teams.

VTS said the product had been developed from a data foundation covering more than 13 billion sq ft of real estate and containing over 600,000 lease documents.

VTS extends AI into lease administration

Asset Intelligence follows several earlier additions to VTS’s AI product range. Proposal AI extracts information from leasing proposals, while VTS Analyst allows users to search market and portfolio data through conversational questions.

The company said Proposal AI had reduced manual proposal-entry time by 93%. It also said VTS Analyst could return 30% of the time asset management teams previously spent searching for information.

Nick Romito, chief executive of VTS, said the product would provide a central place for property companies to access information held across documents, systems and teams.

Ben Brown, co-president and head of the Americas at Brookfield, said property teams needed technology that could speed up decision-making and strategic planning as their day-to-day responsibilities increased.
