Topcon brings GEOvis 3D BIM visualisation to Delta Watch infrastructure monitoring

Topcon Positioning Systems, a provider of precision technologies and workflow solutions for construction, geomatics and agriculture, has introduced a GEOvis-powered version of its Delta Watch deformation monitoring platform, adding BIM/IFC 3D visualisation and GIS-based visualisation capabilities to the system.

Developed with Amberg Infra 7D, a Swiss infrastructure monitoring, geomatics and BIM specialist, the cloud-based platform processes automated and manually collected data from total stations and GNSS receivers, as well as measurements from geotechnical, structural and environmental sensors.

Delta Watch is part of Topcon’s Delta Solutions monitoring system, launched in 2016. The software was developed to manage and analyse monitoring data and generate reports as part of a system that integrates field hardware, communications and software.

GEOvis brings BIM and GIS views into Delta Watch

The GEOvis integration allows users to view monitoring measurements in the context of the infrastructure under observation. GIS-based spatial views show where movement is occurring, while BIM/IFC 3D visualisation can position sensors by their coordinates within a model and link their measurements to the physical asset.

The platform also covers dashboards, automated reports, alarms, project administration, and the communication of monitoring information to stakeholders.

GEOvis predates the latest Delta Watch release. Amberg’s corporate history records GEOvis 4.0 as a new-generation geomonitoring platform launched in 2021. The platform supports both automatic and manual measurements, and its visualisation tools include 3D IFC models, maps, charts and sensor locations.

Network adjustment remains part of Delta Watch

The GEOvis-powered Delta Watch uses least-squares adjustment to improve the accuracy of geodetic monitoring networks. However, network-adjusted processing was already part of Delta Watch before the latest release.

When Topcon launched Delta Solutions in 2016, it said Delta Watch could process data from total stations, GNSS receivers, levelling equipment and sensors, either individually or as a network-adjusted solution. An optional Delta Sat GNSS module also supported standalone GNSS monitoring and combined GNSS and total station network adjustments.

The latest version combines those monitoring functions with the GEOvis-based visualisation, reporting, alarm and project administration tools.

Ron Oberlander, head of Topcon Geomatics and Construction Platforms, said multi-sensor integration brings different monitoring datasets together on a single platform, making complex projects easier to manage.

Topcon and Amberg collaboration predates the release

The Delta Watch development builds on earlier technical cooperation between Topcon and Amberg Technologies, another company within Switzerland’s Amberg Group.

In May 2025, Topcon and Amberg Technologies announced a collaboration to make Topcon sensor solutions interoperable with Amberg’s software and hardware platforms for rail and tunnel applications.

In October 2025, the companies followed this with an agreement covering integrated rail and tunnel solutions. The integration enabled Topcon positioning technology to work directly with Amberg’s specialist hardware and software for tasks such as track alignment, tunnel profiling and volumetric analysis.

Further interoperability was introduced in December 2025 with the release of Amberg Tunnel 2.28 and Navigator 1.28. Amberg Navigator received official support for Topcon and Sokkia robotic total stations, and field-collected convergence measurements could be uploaded directly to GEOvis for visualisation, monitoring and reporting.

The 2026 Delta Watch development is with Amberg Infra 7D, part of the Amberg Group, and integrates GEOvis technology into Topcon’s deformation monitoring platform.

Delta Solutions monitors movement across buildings, railways, tunnels, bridges, slopes, subsidence areas, and active construction sites.

Delta Watch, powered by GEOvis, is available on subscription. Topcon plans to demonstrate the platform at INTERGEO 2026 in Munich, Germany, from 15 to 17 September.
