Sentry AI expands use of AI-assisted remote guarding at multifamily properties in the US

Plum-Gray Courtyard Entrance, Elegantly Monitored

/Sentry AI, a US-based provider of AI-powered physical security solutions, reports that apartment complexes and communities managed by homeowners’ associations are increasingly adopting its remote guarding service.

Remote guarding enables trained security staff to monitor a property from another location via live camera feeds and connected security equipment.

Sentry AI combines remote guards with AI agents, software that monitors activity and investigates potential threats. The service can use cameras and other equipment already installed at a property, adding hardware where needed.

Unlike conventional central-station monitoring, where an off-site control centre responds to predefined alarms using established procedures, Sentry AI provides remote guards with information from connected equipment to help them assess each incident.

The announcement came five days after the launch of Sentry AI v11. The September 2026 update introduced proactive AI patrols, connections to sensors and access-control systems, and a function that sends detected incidents to human guards. Mapping tools can show operators where guards are located when someone needs to attend the property.

Security monitoring tailored to each property

The service can be configured to address the problems affecting an individual community. These may include illegal dumping, vehicle break-ins, bicycle theft, trespassing and suspicious activity in car parks.

It can also monitor swimming pools for unauthorised after-hours use and cover drug-related activity or other incidents in shared residential areas.

Monitoring can be redirected when a property’s security concerns change. Cameras, sensors and equipment for controlling entry through doors and gates can also be added as required.

Sentry AI said its software helps remote guards understand what is happening, while the guards decide how to respond. If an incident requires an on-site presence, Sentry AI can dispatch an on-demand guard to the property.

Mail theft protection across residential communities

Mailbox security is another area of deployment. Sentry AI said it has protected more than 200 US Postal Service mailbox locks in more than 20 communities over the past two years.

Homeowners’ associations, commonly known as HOAs in the US, manage these communities. An HOA oversees shared facilities, services and rules within a residential development.

Sentry AI reported no incidents of mail theft involving the protected mailbox locks during that period. The company did not independently verify the result.

The company introduced MailGuard in June 2025 for shared mailboxes. It adds a secondary combination lock to a mailbox secured by the US Postal Service master-key system. The lock can be paired with cameras, speakers and remote or on-demand guards. Sentry AI describes MailGuard as patent pending.

Sentry AI estimates that its combination of AI agents, existing security equipment and remote or on-demand guards costs about one-fifth of traditional on-site guarding. It did not provide detailed pricing or an independent cost comparison.
