Paraguayan property developer Grupo Petra and Italian design house Pininfarina have unveiled a residential tower in Asunción that they describe as Paraguay’s first branded residence. Named Royale Design, it is also Pininfarina’s first project in the country.
Its façade takes cues from Ñandutí, a traditional Paraguayan handmade lace. Pininfarina studied how the lace repeats and layers its threads, leaving gaps that filter light. Windows, balconies and loggias bring those principles to the tower.
The repeated openings create a shifting pattern of light and shadow through the day. Recessed windows, loggias and layered shading also draw on a familiar feature of Asunción’s buildings: the sheltered space between indoors and outdoors.

Pininfarina points to the city’s patios, galleries and covered outdoor areas as references for its response to the subtropical climate.
The current design reaches a rooftop elevation of approximately 112 metres, with levels extending through Floor 32. Plans include one, two and three-bedroom homes, duplexes and four-bedroom penthouses.

Pininfarina is designing the architecture, façade, interiors and visual identity. For the lobby, its Intarsio concept uses clay, terracotta, lime plaster, natural textures and metal accents. Floor and wall patterns inspired by Paraguayan fibre traditions help mark routes through the space.

The plans also include landscaped terraces, a pool, wellness areas and lounges. Landscape and outdoor dining are proposed at street level.

The companies presented Royale at Pininfarina of America’s headquarters in Miami on 24 September. Its official launch in Asunción is scheduled for 30 October.
