Measurabl, a real estate sustainability data platform, has launched the California Building Performance Pulse in partnership with USGBC California, the California chapter of the US Green Building Council. The public dashboard brings together energy, carbon and water data from more than 1.3 billion square feet of commercial and multifamily properties in California.
The dataset spans six years of utility reporting and covers 23 million metric tons of carbon emissions, 109 billion kWh of energy use and 240 billion gallons of water consumption. It is intended for building owners, operators, policymakers and other stakeholders assessing building performance across the state.
California buildings compared across key performance measures
The dashboard covers office, multifamily, industrial, hospitality and retail properties. Users can filter results by city, floor area, year built and other building characteristics.
It presents median annual performance, percentile distributions, year-on-year trends, and geographic patterns, enabling comparisons across property types and locations.
The data comes from Measurabl’s Quantum Cloud, which tracks sustainability information for more than 23 billion square feet of real estate across more than 90 countries. Measurabl says it screens, validates, and deduplicates the data, then refreshes it on an ongoing basis.
The dashboard is publicly accessible, allowing users to examine performance data across the wider California building market rather than only within individual property portfolios.
New dashboard follows 2025 benchmarking partnership
The launch follows a partnership announced in 2025, when USGBC California selected Measurabl as the preferred benchmarking platform for its Building Performance Hub.
The Hub is a central digital resource for building owners, policymakers and service providers working with California’s Building Performance Standards and broader decarbonisation goals.
Measurabl said the Pulse dataset will expand as more buildings join the platform. The dashboard therefore builds on the organisation’s earlier work on building-performance benchmarking in California.
Measurabl’s free solution also integrates with ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager via a bidirectional sync. The service adds data-quality checks, tracking for Scope 3 emissions, green building certifications, audit results and improvement projects, as well as portfolio dashboards and target tracking.
It can identify properties subject to benchmarking and Building Performance Standard laws across the US and Canada. The service also supports tracking of certifications, including LEED, BREEAM and Green Globes.
