Global architecture, design and planning firm HOK has acquired ROSSETTI, a Detroit-based architecture firm specialising in sports and entertainment venues. The move combines HOK’s global network with ROSSETTI’s long-standing presence in venue design, while also establishing HOK’s first office in Detroit.
The combined entity will operate as HOK + ROSSETTI during the integration period. ROSSETTI’s team, led by Matt Rossetti, will continue to work from Detroit, a market where the firm has been active for more than five decades and where HOK has sought to expand its physical presence.

Expansion of sports and entertainment design capabilities
The acquisition extends HOK’s existing work across stadiums, arenas and performance venues by incorporating ROSSETTI’s portfolio and project experience. ROSSETTI has worked on projects including the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, with ongoing work at Arthur Ashe Stadium and Cosm Detroit.
The firm also brings experience in training and performance facilities, as well as sports-led mixed-use districts. These areas align with HOK’s current work in sports and entertainment, which includes stadium redevelopment, training complexes and multi-use venues across international markets.

Detroit becomes a strategic hub for the combined practice
The Detroit studio will serve as a key base for the combined sports, recreation and entertainment practice. Alongside strengthening HOK’s presence in the Upper Midwest, the location adds continuity to projects and client relationships developed by ROSSETTI over its 57-year history.
HOK has previously delivered projects in Detroit, including Little Caesars Arena and the planned stadium for Detroit City FC. The addition of a permanent office in the city reflects a continued focus on the region within the firm’s broader portfolio.
Continuity of teams alongside expanded global reach
ROSSETTI’s leadership and project teams will remain in place, with Matt Rossetti joining as a director within HOK’s Sports, Recreation and Entertainment practice. The combined group will be led by a team of directors including Nate Appleman, Shannon Bartch, Amy Chase, John Rhodes, Matt Rossetti and Rashed Singaby.
According to both firms, existing client relationships and project teams will continue without change, while gaining access to HOK’s wider network across disciplines and geographies.
