New boutique alpine residences launch near Furano Gondola in Japan

A 20-unit alpine residential development has been launched in Furano’s Kitanomine district, adding a freehold ownership offering in one of Hokkaido’s established ski destinations.

Furano is a ski and tourism town in central Hokkaido, Japan, known for its ski slopes and summer flower fields.

LYRA by NOZO is located approximately 50 metres from the Kitanomine Gondola and is scheduled for completion in November 2026. The development is located adjacent to NOZO Hotel in Furano and will comprise a mix of one-bedroom to four-bedroom residences.

All residences will be delivered furnished and include private owner storage.

Hotel-linked ownership model

Owners will have access to facilities and services at the neighbouring hotel, including dining venues, wellness facilities, fitness amenities, and guest support services.

The residences have been designed to balance private ownership with professional management, reflecting growing interest in serviced residential formats in resort markets.

Project Director Jun Ito said the development combines ownership-based residences, walkable access to ski infrastructure, and professionally managed hospitality services within Furano’s established accommodation district.

Year-round demand broadens beyond winter tourism

While Furano remains best known for winter tourism, the area has increasingly attracted visitors year-round, with cycling, hiking, golf, and other outdoor activities gaining popularity during the warmer months.

Furano is often viewed alongside Niseko as one of Hokkaido’s key ski resort markets, though at a smaller scale and with a lower density of development.

The project team said this broader tourism profile has contributed to growing interest from buyers seeking residential ownership opportunities beyond seasonal ski use.

The Kitanomine district has emerged as a key accommodation area in Furano, alongside ongoing investment in tourism and hospitality infrastructure.

Small-scale release targets domestic and overseas buyers

With only 20 residences planned, LYRA by NOZO is being marketed to domestic and international purchasers seeking a foothold in Japan’s alpine property market.

Japan’s alpine resort markets have seen increased interest from overseas buyers in recent years, particularly in Hokkaido’s ski regions.

The launch also reflects ongoing activity in Hokkaido’s resort real estate sector, where developers and operators continue to expand accommodation and ownership options alongside tourism growth.

The residences are being marketed by NISADE Real Estate, a Hokkaido-based real estate company specialising in residential, investment, and hospitality property across Japan’s alpine resort destinations, including Furano, Niseko, and Hakuba.
