Corgan continues US expansion with Duda|Paine acquisition

Blueprint towers and architectural models connected by a shared central structure

Corgan, a Dallas-headquartered architecture and design firm, has acquired Duda|Paine Architects, a Durham-based practice specialising in commercial offices, higher education, research and wellness facilities.

The deal gives Corgan its first North Carolina studio and is its fifth acquisition of a US architecture practice since August 2025. Corgan did not disclose the financial terms.

Duda|Paine co-founder Turan Duda has joined Corgan as a principal and design director. The Durham office now forms part of Corgan’s network.

Fifth US architecture acquisition since August 2025

Corgan began its recent series of acquisitions with Boston practice Dyer Brown in August 2025. New York architecture and urban design firm Cooper Robertson followed in November.

The company acquired FOX Architects in Washington, DC, in April 2026 and WCGS Architects in Albany, New York, in August. The Duda|Paine acquisition expands its presence into North Carolina and provides a base in the Research Triangle.

Research Triangle Park covers 7,000 acres and is home to more than 385 companies employing over 55,000 people, according to the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina.

An October 2025 Corgan fact sheet recorded more than 1,200 employees across 20 locations and global revenue of more than $510m in 2024. The company currently has 23 offices globally.

Scott Ruch, CEO of Corgan, said Duda|Paine would add to the company’s office and higher education work while establishing it in a new regional market.

Duda|Paine portfolio spans education, offices and wellness

Duda|Paine was founded in 1997 by Turan Duda and Jeffrey Paine, who retired in 2025. Its portfolio currently lists more than 150 projects, including 45 that are LEED certified.

The practice designed the Duke University Student Wellness Center in Durham and RTI International Headquarters in Research Triangle Park. Its portfolio also includes Talley Student Union at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NCR Global Headquarters in Atlanta, The Republic office tower in Austin and Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness in Bentonville.

Duda|Paine has worked for Duke University, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University and RTI International, giving Corgan access to a network of clients across the region’s education and research sectors.

The two companies have worked together before. They collaborated with HKS on the 1.1 million-square-foot Pioneer Natural Resources headquarters in Irving, Texas. Duda|Paine and HKS handled the exterior, while Corgan provided interior design and workplace strategy.

Duda said joining Corgan would allow the Durham team to work across a wider range of projects, markets and locations, with access to the larger company’s technical resources.

Morrissey Goodale advised Corgan on the acquisition.
