Bluebeam, a US-based developer of digital productivity and collaboration software for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) teams and part of the Nemetschek Group, has introduced a series of updates to its Bluebeam Max offering, extending its collaboration tools and expanding AI integrations across its document-focused workflows.
Bluebeam is widely used in AEC projects for PDF-based drawing review, markup and submittal coordination, with its Studio environment acting as a shared space where multiple stakeholders can work on the same drawing sets in real time. These latest upgrades are part of Bluebeam’s document-focused workflow layer.
AI integrations deepen across Bluebeam Max workflows
The update broadens web and mobile capabilities, allowing users to create PDFs, manage pages and complete markups outside of desktop environments. The intent is to support continuity of work across office-based coordination and on-site project activity, where documentation review often shifts between devices and teams.
Bluebeam has also refined its search and visibility functions across projects. New filters for Studio files on iOS and for markups on the web are aimed at improving access to specific information within larger project datasets, particularly in environments where multiple revisions and drawing sets are being handled simultaneously.
Studio collaboration tools and mobile workflows updated for field use

The latest changes extend Bluebeam’s web and mobile functionality, enabling users to stay connected to project documentation beyond traditional desktop workflows. The update focuses on maintaining continuity between field and office environments, where coordination often depends on quick access to updated drawings and markups.
Studio itself has been updated with additional collaboration functionality. Users can now recover deleted Sessions and files, while expanded global search is intended to make it easier to navigate shared project information during live coordination work.
MCP support added to Bluebeam Max AI integrations
The most notable change is the expansion of AI integrations in Bluebeam Max. The platform now supports MCP connectivity for Claude, GitHub Copilot CLI and AnythingLLM, enabling users to generate markups, create custom columns and update markup properties through connected AI tools operating directly within workflows. The integration reflects a shift from AI being used alongside documentation tools to being embedded into how those documents are actively manipulated.
AEC workflows are moving away from static document review towards more connected systems where drawings, markups and submittals function as structured project data. Studio Sessions act as a live coordination space rather than a simple file-sharing tool, enabling AI-assisted features to be used directly in day-to-day work.
mbue acquisition adds preconstruction workflow capability
The company has also expanded its AI direction through the acquisition of mbue, a startup focused on preconstruction and construction document workflows. The addition brings in expertise around drawings and submittals, which Bluebeam said will be used to strengthen its Max platform across earlier project stages. The move appears focused on integrating specialised workflow capability rather than scaling through a large structural acquisition.
Bluebeam said the updates are intended to support more connected documentation workflows across the AEC sector, bringing collaboration, search and AI-assisted functions into a single environment.
