Honeywell expands connected hotel technology with cloud-based systems

Honeywell, a technology company focused on building automation and industrial applications, has launched a new generation of cloud-based hospitality solutions connecting hotel guestrooms, access control and building operations.

The offering links guestroom access, temperature control, energy management and operational monitoring. Honeywell says this will give operators greater visibility into room conditions and allow automatic responses to occupancy and guest entry.

The launch covers Honeywell Forge Hospitality, the Onity Cloud Suite and updates to the company’s INNCOM guestroom management system. It also includes the new Trillium 2.0 lock and INNCOM Premium Switch Series.

The announcement builds on Honeywell’s earlier work connecting hotel access and room-management systems. In June 2024, its Onity business announced cloud-based hospitality technology that included two-way integration between electronic locks and systems such as INNCOM.

INNCOM can connect guestroom equipment including electronic locks, lighting, drapes and shades, voice controls and minibars. Its energy management system uses occupancy information to regulate HVAC use.

The new offering connects these room-level functions with property and portfolio management.

Central monitoring for hotel operations

Honeywell Forge Hospitality provides a central view of guestrooms, maintenance activities and energy systems. Operators can monitor room status, receive automated alerts and track issues across individual properties or hotel portfolios.

The Onity Cloud Suite combines locks, readers, gateways and software. The system supports real-time access monitoring, mobile entry and digital wallet capabilities, while the new Trillium 2.0 lock forms part of the offering.

Access information can be used alongside data from other hotel systems, helping staff monitor guestrooms and shared areas from a central platform.

Guestrooms adjust to occupancy

Updates to Honeywell’s INNCOM guestroom management system allow thermostats to exchange data with Onity locks. Rooms can adjust settings when occupancy changes or a guest enters, limiting manual intervention and unnecessary HVAC use.

INNCOM already uses data from door and motion sensors to manage guestroom HVAC. Its Premium system can also connect locks, lighting, window coverings, voice controls and minibars.

The new INNCOM Premium Switch Series adds customisable backlighting and a blackout mode.

Connecting lock and occupancy data with room controls gives hotel staff a more immediate view of energy use, maintenance requirements and room status. Honeywell is positioning Forge Hospitality as the management layer for this information across individual properties and hotel portfolios.
