Uncle Su at The Star Gold Coast is designed as a fully choreographed sensory experience, where lighting, colour, architecture and digital storytelling converge to create a dining destination that feels both theatrical and deeply refined.
FPOV’s lighting and audiovisual design play a key role in shaping this journey, guiding guests from an immersive entry sequence into a layered, elegant interior that celebrates contemporary Chinese hospitality.

A journey that begins in light: The immersive entry tunnel
The experience opens with a dramatic projection tunnel, where guests are welcomed by a carefully designed sequence of ambient visuals that set the tone for the restaurant’s narrative. The tunnel features a projection of crashing waves, enveloping guests in movement and sound as they transition into the main dining space.

FPOV integrates AV and content design to create “magical and memorable entry statements”, using technology with intention rather than spectacle.
Layered lighting that shapes atmosphere and emotion
Once inside, the restaurant reveals a lighting scheme built on multi-layered illumination, balancing ambient, indirect and accent lighting to create a warm, sophisticated dining environment. FPOV’s design enhances the restaurant’s premium aesthetic, using light to sculpt the space and elevate the dining experience.

The studio’s ability to blend technical precision with emotional resonance is reflected in how the lighting design enhances the dining ambience, exemplifying elegance and sophistication.
Technology with purpose
Digital elements can easily overwhelm a space. FPOV’s team, however, emphasises that technology must serve the experience, not distract from it. Their philosophy is to avoid gimmicks, focus on meaning, and use sight and sound to unify space and narrative.

This philosophy is evident throughout Uncle Su, where lighting and AV are seamlessly integrated into the architecture.
Light shapes sensory delight
The restaurant’s vibrant pops of colour, layered lighting, and immersive entry sequence work together to create a dining environment that feels alive and expressive.

The experience is designed to be “a feast of sensory delight, where the amazing cuisine is just the beginning”.

At Uncle Su, architecture, lighting, AV, and interiors together contribute to a cohesive, emotionally rich experience.
