Browser-based collaboration and AI-assisted workflow tools are becoming a larger part of how architecture and engineering software firms are evolving their building information modelling (BIM) platforms. The latest move comes from Nemetschek Group, which has outlined a strategy to connect early-stage design, multidisciplinary coordination, and lifecycle collaboration through a unified cloud-based collaboration platform.
The Munich-headquartered company said the initiative is being developed through Graphisoft, the BIM software developer behind Archicad, and will gradually extend to additional design brands within the Nemetschek portfolio.
The initiative combines AI-assisted design tools with browser-based collaboration tools intended to support architects, engineers, planners, builders, and stakeholders across multidisciplinary projects.
New platform targets early-stage design decisions
One part of the initiative focuses on web-based design intelligence tools intended to support feasibility studies and early-stage planning decisions.
According to Nemetschek, users will be able to explore multiple massing, layout, and performance scenarios within a shared browser-based workspace, without requiring BIM expertise from every participant.
The platform will also incorporate AI-assisted simulations intended to support earlier design evaluation across architecture and engineering teams.
Early access for the design intelligence solution is planned for October 2026, with a waitlist now open.
Cloud collaboration moves further into BIM workflows
Alongside the AI-assisted design tools, the company is also developing an open collaboration environment for the wider Nemetschek ecosystem.
The system is intended to synchronise models, documents, project issues, and decision tracking across different disciplines and software environments, while continuing to support open standards.
Founded in 1963, the Nemetschek Group provides software and AI solutions for the architecture, engineering, construction/operations (AEC/O), and media industries.
