In this contemporary residence, Canadian interior design studio V&S Design translates the language of hospitality into domestic interiors, achieving monumentality through material precision and balancing drama with control.
The entrance sets the tone immediately. LED strip lighting runs from wall to ceiling, producing a theatrical play of light. Beneath, porcelain slab flooring edged with intricate borders recalls the ceremonial quality of hotel lobbies, establishing a sense of grandeur in arrival.
The kitchen is treated as a culinary sanctuary. Aluminium glass doors with integrated LED accents introduce a contemporary rhythm, while marble surfaces provide a counterpoint of permanence. The island, with its striking stone composition, functions as both workspace and sculptural anchor.
The principal living room is anchored by a single full-height marble feature wall with an integrated fireplace. The firebox itself is modest, but the vertical expanse of stone elevates it into an architectural statement. High ceilings, generous windows, and restrained furnishings, including pale upholstery, metallic accents, and a contemporary chandelier, create a calm, symmetrical environment where proportion and light are the true luxuries.
Bathrooms are conceived as retreats. One combines black marble veined in gold with white stone, pendant lighting, and reflective surfaces. Another introduces a metallic vessel sink, textured cabinetry, and silver-grey tiling. Both demonstrate how material contrasts and lighting can transform functional spaces into sculptural experiences.
What distinguishes this residence is not excess, but orchestration. V&S Design’s approach lies in the careful layering of materials, lighting, and geometry to create interiors that resonate with the ambience of luxury hospitality while remaining tailored to private life. The project illustrates how contemporary design can redefine domestic luxury through restraint, precision, and atmosphere.
