MOCA Systems, a US-based architecture, engineering and construction technology and services provider, has announced the general availability of BoardScan, an artificial intelligence (AI) capability integrated into Touchplan, a construction planning platform, during a keynote presentation at the ENR FutureTech conference in San Francisco.
The release positions the tool within an ongoing shift in construction planning workflows, where analogue methods of capturing early-stage coordination data are increasingly being connected to digital project systems.
Bridging analogue planning with digital execution
BoardScan combines multiple AI techniques to interpret handwritten planning notes and convert them into structured tasks within Touchplan, a cloud-based production planning and analytics platform used across construction projects.
According to MOCA Systems, users can photograph planning boards using smartphones or camera-enabled tablets and upload them to the platform, where the AI extracts details such as tasks, roles, and intended completion dates. The information is then organised and sequenced within the digital planning environment.

When handwriting is unclear, users can review and edit the extracted entries before they are added to the project plan.
The company stated that the tool is designed to replace manual transcription processes typically used during early coordination stages, introducing a Snap-Review-Post workflow intended to streamline how planning information moves from physical boards into digital systems.
Access across Touchplan users and project environments
BoardScan has been made available to all Touchplan users globally, with no additional AI training, setup requirements or software expertise required. The capability is offered at no cost, including both upfront and ongoing usage.
MOCA Systems said the system is intended to reduce transcription effort while improving the consistency of planning data captured at the start of projects.
Brett Adamczyk, President of the Software Division at MOCA Systems, said the technology is designed to link analogue planning activity with digital execution workflows and support data capture for later project analysis.
He noted that in large-scale construction environments, including data centres and semiconductor fabrication facilities, early planning stages can influence downstream coordination and sequencing.
Touchplan is positioned as a collaborative production planning and analytics platform used in construction delivery environments. The company states that it is adopted across a range of contractors and project types, and is built around structured planning workflows designed to support schedule coordination and progress tracking.
The introduction of BoardScan adds a layer of automated interpretation to the early stages of that workflow, where information is still frequently recorded in non-digital formats.
