Building information modelling (BIM) checking has long remained a technically demanding task within architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) workflows, often limited to specialists with scripting knowledge and familiarity with complex data structures. A new release from Tektome, a multi-intelligence platform for the AEC industry, points to an attempt to change how these checks are performed across project teams.
The company has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-based BIM Checker that allows users to run model checks using plain language. Instead of relying on predefined rules or scripts, teams can upload a BIM model and ask questions directly, such as whether elements meet clearance requirements, whether design changes affect room conditions, or whether the model complies with specific standards. The system interprets these queries, breaks them into checking steps, and returns results that can be reviewed visually.
AI BIM checker aims to simplify model validation

Model validation has traditionally required both programming capability and a detailed understanding of BIM or Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data structures. This has often resulted in a small group of specialists handling rule creation and interpretation, while broader project teams rely on manual processes.
Tektome’s tool is aimed at reducing reliance on specialist users. By translating natural language inputs into model checks, the tool allows architects, engineers, contractors, and BIM managers to interact with model data without the need for scripting or complex setup. The system is also intended to work with imperfect models, reflecting typical project conditions.
Naoki Kitamura, CEO at Tektome, said the aim is to enable those closest to a project to query BIM data directly and review outcomes without requiring specialist intervention.
Industry demonstration planned at NXT BLD DEV London
The company is set to demonstrate the AI BIM Checker at NXT BLD/DEV, scheduled to take place in London on 13 and 14 May 2026. The event will provide an opportunity for architects, engineers, contractors, and technology leaders to see the system in operation and assess how it integrates into existing workflows.
According to Tektome, the demonstration will focus on how plain-language queries are processed, how results are visualised, and how checks can be reused across projects.

Free trial opens for AEC professionals and organisations
Tektome has opened applications for a free trial of the AI BIM Checker, inviting companies and practitioners to test the system using their own project models. The company is seeking participation from design teams, BIM managers, contractors, consultants, and quality teams, particularly those with specific model-checking requirements.
The release comes as firms continue to seek ways to streamline model validation processes and reduce manual intervention across project workflows.
